The Moscow City Court has upheld detention of a citizen of Norwegian suspected by Russian authorities of espionage, the court’s press service has told Media.
Earlier, the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow ordered detention of Norwegian until February 5, 2018.
According to media reports, the defendant was arrested when he received secret documents containing information on Russian navy. Allegedly these papers were given by Russian national Alexey Zhitnyuk, who was detained in December on suspicion of treason.
Norwegian has pleaded not guilty, his lawyer Ilya Novikov has told Media.
